VISION

The value structure in our society is changing at a very rapid rate. We are influenced daily by messages that communicate individualism above team, selfishness over charity, disrespect over honor and personal prosperity over dignity and common sense.

Athletics are an important aspect of this changing American culture, and this dimension of our society also continues to erode. Many children and young adults are involved in competition, yet we do not see this involvement shaping our youth in a positive and productive way. This time of enormous challenge can also be a time for significant opportunity in preparing our youth to face the changing values they encounter daily. Therefore, it is the chief aim of Higher Hoops to promote, educate, model and mentor understandings and behaviors that will enable our participants to choose wise, charitable paths as they contribute to society.

COMPETITIVE

“Competitiveness must be focused exclusively on the process of what you are doing rather than the result of that effort (the so-called winning and losing). Otherwise you may lose self control and become tight emotionally, mentally and physically.”

John Wooden
